Cesium phosphide is an inoic semiconductor that is widely used in high power, high frequency applications and in laser diodes. It is produced in standard grades including Mil Spec (military grade); ACS, Reagent and Technical Grade; Food, Agricultural and Pharmaceutical Grade; Optical Grade, USP and EP/BP (European Pharmacopoeia/British Pharmacopoeia) and follows applicable ASTM testing standards.

Cesium is a grey-golden alkali metal that belongs to group-1 of the s-block with atomic number 55. It has a melting point of 28.5$circ C$and is soluble in water.

Phosphorus is a strong alkali and acts as the cation in cesium phosphide. The phosphorus ion consists of a central phosphorus atom surrounded by four oxygen atoms in a tetrahedral arrangement.

The sulfide ion is derived from sulfur, whose symbol is S and oxidation state is -2 similar to the chlorine ion. It emits rotten egg smell and is highly toxic.

Formula weights, also called equation weights, are useful in balancing chemical equations that involve a variety of reagents and products. They are determined by calculating the weight in atomic mass units of all the atoms in the chemical formula.

The molar mass of a substance is the weight in grams per mole of a chemical reaction, which may be called standard atomic weight or average atomic mass. For stoichiometric calculations, the molar mass is usually rounded to a value between 1 and 1000 grams. It is important to check the rounding errors of your calculations, as they could cause an error in the result.
