What is Cuprous Oxide Cu2O? Cuprous oxide, whose chemical formula is Cu2O is univalent copper oxide and bright red powder solid. In acidic solution disproportionation it becomes bivalent copper and copper elements, which is slowly oxidized in the air to black copper oxide.
